If you want to make a piece of killer video content that's going to resonate with your audience, communicate your message, do it at an affordable price point, get it to your schedule, and really get someone who gets you, Ovation is your choice.

I love the integration of the message with excellent graphics, but also the focus on our solutions and how we needed our solutions communicated out to the world.

We're part of a very big space. We're really trying to differentiate and take ourselves to the next level. With the videos, it allows us to be more creative. It allows us to stand out. It really gives us the chance to kind of be the cool kids on the block.

When we're at these trade shows where we're sitting and talking with our competition, they say, "That video you did, that was really something." Sometimes I sense a little bit of jealousy. They don't get the opportunity to go outside the lines the way we do.

We've done two very unique videos. We did a riff on 1950s grade-B science fiction movies. And we did an animated video with the rhyme of Dr. Seuss, with the animation looking like Dr. Seuss.

The feedback has just been phenomenal. We see time on page has increased. People are watching these videos. They stay at our page longer.

The people we're working with at Ovation will absolutely, first and foremost, listen. They'll take that vision and they'll come back in a day or two and just blow our socks off. They just get us. Regardless of price or anything else like that, I wouldn't change them for the world.

The Challenge

Standing out when everyone is talking about the same technology

Interloc helps asset-intensive organizations get more value from IBM Maximo and the Maximo Application Suite through consulting, cloud services, support, mobility and related enterprise asset management solutions.

That creates a difficult marketing challenge: many competitors serve the same market, discuss the same platform and can sound similar on the surface. Interloc wanted video that could communicate sophisticated technical value while also making the company’s personality, creativity and way of working unmistakable.

The goal was not simply to make polished videos. It was to create marketing assets that would help Interloc explain complex ideas clearly, look different from the category and give customers and prospects something memorable to associate with the company.

Why the Partnership Works

Business understanding first. Production second.

Interloc’s team knows IBM Maximo and enterprise asset management deeply. Ovation’s job is not to replace that subject-matter expertise. It is to listen carefully, understand the business value behind it, and translate that expertise into a story an outside audience can understand and remember.

“They may not know our business to the degree that we do, but they know the business of how to message that out to the world.”

Over multiple projects, that collaboration has included creative concept development, animation, live action, sound design, voice talent, editing and the project management required to turn rough ideas into finished marketing assets.

Understands complex B2B technology

Ovation works from Interloc’s business goals and technical expertise, then shapes the message for customers and prospects.

Finds creative ways to differentiate

Projects have ranged from polished enterprise storytelling to intentionally unconventional concepts designed to be remembered.

Brings the specialists together

Producers, animators, editors, sound designers and voice talent are assembled around the story rather than forcing every project into one production style.

“It would be a real challenge to go out and find another company that has really worked for us in the manner that Ovation has.”

Results

More page views, more time on page, more visibility

Interloc discusses measurable web engagement and how distinctive video helps the company stand out in a crowded Maximo market.

Read transcript

I think one of the most tangible results we've seen is our page views. Every page where we have embedded, an Ovation video, one of the most recent videos we did is right on our main page. And using our metrics, you know, page hits have increased upwards of 50, 55% on every page where we have, an Ovation video.

We see time on page has increased. So, you know, people are watching these videos and, you know, at the end of the day, watching the video means they stay at our page longer, you know, and hopefully that results in some additional conversion. So, we've been very, very satisfied. With, you know, using the videos in our other delivery channels, you know, where we're a part of a very big space.

And we're really trying to differentiate and take ourselves to the next level. A lot of the videos and a lot of the content in our space is very homogenous. You really sometimes can't even tell, you know, one site from another because we're all talking about the same thing. So what we've done is really try to use the videos to differentiate ourselves.

Videos are obviously a part of our marketing toolkit. You know, it is associated to our other types of collateral and content. And that is usually has to be focused on our products and what we do. So, with the videos, it allows us to be more creative. It allows us to stand out, and it really gives us the chance to kind of be the cool kids on the block.

Most of the other videos are just mind numbing sometimes, you know? But, you know, we really stand out and, you know, are we going to win business just on the video? No, but we're winning people where they go, hey, you guys did the Dr. Seuss video. So we are getting that, eminence. We are getting that sort of visibility.

That makes us, you know, stand out from the pack. And really, from a marketing perspective, that's one of the main tenets is, you know, getting that sort of visibility. To stand out so that people know, you know, they have choices, and they can say, hey, I can go with, you know, the plain old vanilla, or I can go with these guys that are, you know, at least I think we're we think we're cool.

But, you know, it really is good to set us up, you know, set us apart from some of our competition. At Interloc, We speak to a, user population that sees the same messaging again and again and again. Being a an IBM partner, I don't know if I can say that being an IBM partner, the product that we're selling is the same as many of our competitors.

So the differentiators really come down to who we are as a company. And the way that we work with our customers. The videos that we produce with Ovation give us an opportunity to put that personality and our own characteristics out there in a very, easy to understand sort of way and get us an opportunity to present what makes us different from our competition.

The product we support is the same, but the way we go about it is different and unique, and we really want to highlight that as we go. It's not always easy to measure the impact of these videos. We do look at things like web traffic. How long people spend on our site, how many views we get. But really where we see it manifested mostly is when we're at these trade shows that we go to where we're sitting and talking with our competition, and we have a friendly relationships with most of them.

And they say that video you did, that was really something. And sometimes I sense a little bit of jealousy that they don't get the opportunity to go outside the lines the way we do on some of these things. But again, it's really a reflection of of the team that we have here, and our approach to doing business in a way that, sets us apart from, from our competition with, with regard to the videos that have been brought together, they've brought together a wonderful combination of our message, with excellent graphics that really helped us communicate directly to our, asset management community, in a very confident and full manner.

Differentiation

Why Ovation is different from other video companies

Interloc compares its experience with other production houses and agencies to Ovation’s combination of professionalism, quality and genuine effort to understand the client.

Read transcript

Without Ovation. We'd be in a real pickle. You know, we've seen other video production houses. We've talked to other agencies. And they just don't have that sort of combination of, professionalism and quality of work. But with that sort of casual let's get to know you and how important that is. So I don't know that I've ever dealt with a company that has all those, you know, characteristics.

It would be a real challenge to go out and find another company that has really worked for us in the manner that Ovation has.

Collaboration

Turning ideas into finished work

Interloc describes the rapport that lets its team bring rough concepts to Ovation and turn them into work everyone is proud to share.

Read transcript

It works out nice because again, the kind of in my head a little bit. Right. They've really got to the point where I might not express fully what I'm looking for. But they can take what I articulate and really turn it into something that we were looking for. So, it's almost like I have a second wife, and I feel free to use that.

But, you know, we really have developed a good rapport, which, again, I think really helps us sort of process. It's not stilted. It's not. We're very, very open. And we work with the same folks, so we kind of get each other working with ovations. A lot of fun. In my past lives, I've done various creative roles, and, it's been really exciting to get back in and be able to flex those muscles again.

The team is really great to work with. They seem to have a good sense of what we're trying to achieve, but also have the know how to to realize it and make it actually happen for us. Left our own devices. We'd end up with a lot of good ideas on whiteboards, but no videos worth watching. So it's been really great to be able to take an idea to somebody and say, you know, this is what we're thinking.

Can we help, you know, hammer this thing out, get rid of the rough edges and turn it into something that we can all really be proud of.

Business Understanding

Understanding the business behind the video

Interloc explains how Ovation listens to technical experts, respects their vision and turns deep business knowledge into messaging for the outside world.

I think one of the biggest differentiators, really, is ovations ability to take our vision and and really bring it to bear. Right. So, we're all over the place we want, you know, I've got one person that wants to do this. Someone else wants to do that. And like I said before, the listening really comes into play.

They they may not know our business to the degree that we do, but they know the business of how to message that out to the world. So, it really is great that, you know, we can just kind of talk about our business. And they they seem to take it to that next level, and transform it into something, you know, something useful and something that still pertains to our world.

We've dealt with other places, and, we would say X and they would still come out with Y, you know, because their vision kind of seemed to override or or, you know, more influence. The messaging than what we wanted. So, we've never been out of lockstep. And the many, many projects that we've done, we've we've always you know, come back to the table, somebody says, oh, we want to do this.

And, you know, on our side of the table, we're like, that's awesome. And we run with that. So, it really is the caliber of people that, that, work at Ovation that just understand how to understand about other people's business.

We're very lucky with our project manager in that she's got a very broad base of experience across a wide range of, video and production, backgrounds. So she has a much broader perspective on what we're trying to do than we do ourselves, and can offer insights from from things we did, video with, kind of a 1950s feel, Chuck Jones video, we call it.

The Team

The right specialists for each project

We're very lucky with our project manager in that she's got a very broad base of experience across a wide range of, video and production, backgrounds. So she has a much broader perspective on what we're trying to do than we do ourselves, and can offer insights from from things we did, video with, kind of a 1950s feel, Chuck Jones video, we call it.

And, when I asked Amy what we were doing for the music, I said, have you ever watched? It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I said, I want something kind of like that, you know, pizzicato string thing that happens at the beginning. And she laughed and said, actually, when they shoot in Philadelphia, I work crew with them, and I worked directly with It's Always Sunny.

So she not only had the experience, but she also had an understanding of exactly what I was looking for, what we were trying to achieve with it, and was able to bring that experience to, to get us there much faster than if we'd had to sort of sniff it out on our own. We've been really lucky with our animators, with the sound designer we've worked with.

They have a really, strong commitment to getting the best product for us. And really working within our vision to deliver something. Not only are we happy with, but we're also very, very proud of. It would be very easy in a lot of cases for them to take the simple pass and just give us something that checks the boxes, but it really feels at all times like they're committed to giving us the best they can produce and really help us be proud of what we've achieved.

So we've been lucky that we have a consistent team at Ovation, that we work with who who do know us and understand us. And our sort of interesting approach to some of this, but they also have a pretty wide reach. The voiceover artists that we work with come from all over. I think the guy that did our, sales video was, based in Spain.

So we're not limited only to the people within arm's reach, but we can trust Ovation to go out and bring us the best talent we can find for exactly what it is that we're looking for. We needed a particular sound, a particular read on that script, and then we were able to get it. Certainly not anything at Interloc we could have found on our own.

But we trust, and have a trusting relationship with Ovation to do that on our behalf. And the people that we work with most frequently and most intimately, have been very consistent and helpful all the way through.

Process

A process built for speed, clarity and consistency

Interloc describes the working rhythm behind the projects: open collaboration, strong first drafts, deadline discipline and a team that has learned how Interloc likes to work.

You know, one of the one of the just the greatest features about working with is, with Ovation is how we just gelled almost out of the gate. Right? I reached out to them, gave them some visions of what we were doing. And really, from the CEO down to the project manager to the talent, the the audio talent and just all the folks that we worked with.

They've just been really engaged. Like I said earlier, the, the the calls that we have with Ovation, I really just a breath of fresh air. You know, we get to be open. We have a really good flow of ideas. And, you know, they're really good about, taking vision. They're really good about taking a vision and turning it into something more tangible, that we can use and even relate to.

You know, we've worked with several different production managers, and they just accommodate us. They let us ramble when we need to ramble. They rope us in when we have deadlines that we wouldn't make just because things happen. And we really have developed a relationship over the years where, you know, communication isn't just business where we are collaborating.

We know what we we know what we like. They know what we like. And that's really a big important thing because we one of the things that I've done from the very beginning is really lifted innovation's hand from the, the visual aspect. Right. We may have ideas, but Ovation takes our ideas and really transforms it. And I know for myself, every first draft I get of the animation, I'm just blown away because it's like, you know, it's exactly what we wanted.

We weren't even thinking about that sort of visual representation of our idea. In the talent at Ovation just kind of knew and put it together. I don't think we've ever really had, a discussion where the first draft of the first time it was presented, we were like, it's never happened. You know, it's always been.

Wow. And then, you know, we may have adjusted or whatever, but, yeah, they just they just get in our head, but in a good way. And, you know, we're able to, produce and fast, right? So, any time we've ever had delays, it's been on our side, you know? So, the folks at Ovation are always meeting their, you know, their deadlines.

They're always keeping us on our toes. And, you know, there's a benefit to, you know, coming to them at the start of a quarter. And by the end of the quarter, we have a finished product. So they're fast, they're professional. And they're just they're just a joy to work with.

Why This Matters

Complex B2B technology needs more than beautiful production

For enterprise software and technology companies, the hard part is rarely just making something look good. The video has to understand the product, identify the business value, communicate it to sophisticated buyers and still give the audience a reason to remember the company behind the message.

That is where Interloc says Ovation adds value: combining B2B technology understanding with messaging, creative development and high-end production so the finished work is both strategically useful and visually compelling.
